Rakshya Bandhan Rakshya Bandhan is an annual festival which is celebrated by tying of a thread, bracelet or talisman around the wrist as a form of bond and ritual protection. Rakshya Bandhan is observed on the purnima of Shrawan. The word 'rakshyabandhan' means the bond of   protection, obligation and care. On this day, sisters of all ages ties 'rakhi', a form of woven bracelet or amulet around the wrist of her brother and offer many sweets and foods to her brother. In return, brother provides gift to his sister. This occasion is celebrated all around the country, mostly by Hindu community. This festival is the special festival to all the brothers and sisters as this day they celebrate their pure relationship and unconditional love.    

Janai Purnima Janai purnima is celebrated in the month of Shrawan. Janai purnima is also known as sacred thread festival. In this festival, Hindu men, especially Brahmin and Chhetri  perform their annual change of Janai and all who celebrates this festival put a scared thread around their wrist. A day before Janai purnima the persons wearing janai should make themselves clean by shaving or cutting hair and take a good bath. They undergo a partial fasting, taking only one meal of foods considered to be 'clean' - no meat, no onions or garlic. Before big event Hindus prefer to clean their body by keeping fasting. Satvic food is prescribed for all Hindu ritual and festival.  In the Purnima morning, men usually go to rivers and ponds nearby, to take secret bath dipping himself thrice in the water. Gai Jatra Gai jatra is one of the many festivals that is celebrated in Nepal, mainly in Kathmandu valley by Newar community .It is celebrated on the month of Bhadra . The main belief of celebrating this festival is to   diminish the sadness from the death of family members.   According to the tradition,  every family who has lost one relative during the past year must participate in a procession through the streets of Kathmandu leading a cow. If a cow is unavailable then a young boy dressed as a cow is considered a fair substitute. When they are traveling through the streets, people can offer them foods, clothes and other things. To extend every student's knowledge and to provide each of us the outer knowledge besides the bookish knowledge, our school annually organizes the tour and picnic programs for every classes. In the context, we, the student of grade 8 were decided to being taken to Dhading. So, as per the information, the students of grade 8 along with the teachers were informed the date of departure which was 16th of Mangsir. Talking about Tihar, its everyone's favorite. And its my favorite too. Tihar is known as the festival of lights. In this festival, everyone decorates their house with colorful lights and mud-made diya. It is celebrated for five days. The first day is known as Kaag Tihar. On this day, people offer meal to crows. The second day is known as Kukur tihar. On this day, we offer meal to dog by worshiping them.This day is somehow special for me because my birthday is on this day according to newari tithi. As we all know, Dashain is the main festival of Hindu people. Like every nepali people, me and my family also celebrated for fifteen days. Since my permanent hometown Kathmandu, I celebrated this joyous festival in Kathmandu with my family. On the first day, my mother planted jamara. Then, next day I went for shopping with my family. I bought nice clothes and shoes. I also went to watch movie with my brother and sister. We had a lot of fun and ate delicious lunch and ice-cream too. Then came the seventh day of Dashain.
